My Professional Journey
Following my college education, I began my career gaining foundational experience as a house technician across various venues. This period was instrumental in developing a comprehensive skillset and building professional confidence. While balancing family commitments, including marriage and raising two children, I continued to hone my craft through part-time roles. With my children now older, I have increased availability and am actively seeking to expand my freelance opportunities.
My Workflow
I excel at both fast-paced, "load-in and go" events and detailed, full productions. My ideal workflow involves using pre-visualization to program the show ahead of time. This allows me to arrive at the venue with a completed design, ready for fine-tuning. Instead of building from scratch, I can use our time in the space to focus on the small adjustments that make a show truly great.
My Design Portfolio
I am a versatile designer with a proven ability to adapt to diverse settings and stylistic requirements. My experience spans a wide spectrum of theatrical environments, from intimate venues with minimal lighting infrastructure to well-equipped university theaters. I have successfully designed for a variety of productions, including highly realistic straight plays, dynamic rock musicals, classic theatrical works, and expressive interpretive dance pieces.
While I enjoy the unique challenges of all design projects, I have a particular affinity for dance, especially contemporary, hip-hop, and experimental genres. These productions allow for an exploration of bold color palettes and the strategic use of shadow. I value the growth achieved through collaborations with local and educational institutions and am consistently seeking new opportunities to apply my skills in innovative venues and projects.
